Travel Purpose: business

Positive: The house is comfortable and had most things that we needed for our stay. The garden area is private. The location is quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed days out at the beautiful nearby beach and went horse riding at the local equestrian centre. The hosts sorted out various issues that we had throughout the stay.

Negative: We had quite a few issues during our stay. When we arrived, there was no water supply to the house. We rang the hosts and they came and sorted this out. However, communicating with the hosts was difficult as they did not speak or understand English, so we had to use Google translate to speak to them. We also lost hot water during the week and had to ask the hosts for help again. The house was not cleaned to a standard that I would have expected- the fridge and oven were dirty, shelves and ledges were dusty and there were fly strips left hanging from the ceiling, covered in dead flies. Bedding was left on the end of our beds to be made up, however some bedding was missing and we had to request this from the hosts. We were expected to strip our own beds at the end of the stay and leave the house clean, which we always would anyway. We left the house much cleaner than we found it! The pool area was not safe or welcoming. Not only was it in the owner’s garden, but there was no seating near to the pool, which is different from the photos advertising the house. It also had a retractable cover, which was left on and we had to remove every time we wanted to use the pool. A couple of times that we went to use the pool in the afternoon, there was a machine in the pool cleaning it. There were also screws and brackets for the pool cover left lying around the edges of the pool and the tiles and edging was damaged, which was very dangerous. I would say that the pool needs lots of work to get it up to a safe standard. The photos of the exterior, both garden and pool, need updating as they are very out of date and don’t reflect the current set up. Unfortunately we will not return and wouldn’t recommend staying.
