Event Details

The Riddu Riddu Festival in Norway is an indigenous festival with an international touch with a program for the whole family.

This annual festival takes place in Kåfjord in Norway and has been around for more than 30 years. In 1991, some people came together and started to talk about their roots and identity. They were all born in Sami family’s and even though their grandparents still spoke the language, they hardly spoke about their roots. That’s when they decided to show their pride through music and culture, and the festival was born.

There is so much to see and do at the Riddu Riddu Festival Norway you don’t have enough time to do it all. From movies, workshops, traditional dancing, and an indigenous market to great concerts.

The main festival will be held for 6 days straight, but the children’s festival will only be held for 3 days from Monday to Wednesday. If your children are between the age of 3 and 13 years old they are welcome to join the festival. Your kids will be able to enjoy Sami handicrafts, music, storytelling, mask making, and a family-friendly show at the end of every festival day.

If you are traveling with young children we have some tips to make sure you have a great holiday. Furthermore, if you are still in doubt about your trip destination you can take our quiz.
