The Innsbruck Christmas Market is one of many of its kind in Austria. Innsbruck does not only have one of the most famous Christmas markets, it has even more than one. The most famous being the Old Town Christmas Market.
The history of the holiday markets in Austria probably originates in old Christmas Tree markets. Since then, these markets evolved into the colorful and cozy tradition of the Christmas Markets.
The historical city of Innsbruck is one of the most scenic places for a traditional Christmas market. Here you can see snow-covered mountains and lovely characteristic architecture. You will be able to see the impressive and famous Golden roof. But it’s not only the picturesque sights you might enjoy. There will be plenty of tasty local delicacies like “Kiachln”, a type of donut covered in sauerkraut and Glühwein. All of that while Christmas carols fill the streets.
While you roam the streets of the old town close to the golden roof you will enjoy the stalls with Christmas ornaments, traditional Christmas food, arts and crafts.
