Boston Harborfest is the largest festival dedicated to the USA Independence and takes place before the 4th of July. The festival includes week-long events and family-friendly activities.

The Festival starts with an interesting opening ceremony with battle Colonial-era reenactments. After that, you can enjoy the art display by local artists and get a few souvenirs.

However, central parts of the festival are the Parade of Lights and Fireworks with festively lit boats of all shapes and sizes and magnificent firework shows. The Celebration of the Madonna Bruna in Matera is a religious festival that takes place every year on the 2nd of July in Italy. The ‘Festa della Madonna Bruna Matera’ is held to show devotion and dedication to the brown-faced Madonna. These festivities originated over 600 years ago.

They also call this event ‘the longest day’ because it will start early in the morning and end late at night. They will start out the day with a procession of shepherds and end the day with spectacular fireworks.

An essential element of the day is the chart with the image of the ‘brown’ Madonna. Local artists will start building the chart months before the final procession. The chart is made of papier-mâché and is an impressive work of art with the image of the Madonna in the middle.

Meanwhile, there will be parades all around the city involving historical characters and horsemen. At the end of the day, the chart with the Madonna arrives at the main square. To end the day, you can enjoy some awesome fireworks.

Lesvos Food Fest is an annual festival on the historical island of Lesbos in Greece. This event is meant to share and promote the gastronomy and characteristics of the island.

The Riddu Riddu Festival in Norway is an indigenous festival with an international touch with a program for the whole family.

The Golden Days in Fairbanks, Alaska, are a celebration of its founding every year in July.

This event has been celebrated every July since 1952 and boasts fun activities for the whole family. You will be able to enjoy the street fair, a rubber duckie race, and a grande parade.

During the rubber duckie race, 8,000 rubber ducks will compete in the race down the Chena River. You can see the start of those races at the Wendell Street Bridge and if your number makes it over the finish first you’ll win $10,000.

The Wife Carrying World Championship in Finland is precisely what you think it is. It is a contest to carry your wife over an obstacle run.

‘Eukonkanto’ as the Finnish call it originated in Finland. It is said it has its origins in the 1800’s when stories circled about robbers abducting wives and running away. Later the thieves actually trained by carrying heavy sacks, from where this sport originated.

You might find it funny to see men carry their wives on their back, but they actually do take it pretty seriously. There are wife-carrying contests all over the world, From Australia to India, Germany, and the United States.

The championship consists of several competitions like the sprint on Friday and the main contest on Saturday. But there is more. You’ll be able to enjoy a traditional market, live music,  and Karaoke. One thing is for sure, you’ll never forget this experience.
